On that occasion, Dr Kluge pointed out that, based on the previous exceptional cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the WHO had decided to send an expert with twenty years of experience in this organization to our country, who will be the WHO Director’s special envoy for the entire Balkans region.
"The new Head of the WHO office in Serbia, Dr Scano, will be in charge of the entire region, because we want to raise our cooperation to an even higher level, and to work even harder, together with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia, in implementing activities aimed at the control of the coronavirus epidemic throughout the region. Therefore, in the coming period, we will send a mission of our top professionals and the most renowned immunization experts to Serbia, in order to contribute to increasing the number of vaccinated citizens. We will also work on including the region of the Western Balkans in the European Union financial mechanisms intended for the preservation of public health and the fight against the coronavirus," highlighted Kluge.
Minister Lončar wished a warm welcome to Dr Fabio Scano as well as a lot of success in his work in our country, and thanked the WHO Regional Director, Dr Kluge, for his strong support.
"Dr Kluge is a true friend of our country and we are grateful for his strong support. The fact that the WHO representative for the entire region will be the Head the WHO office in Serbia, Dr Scano, speaks volumes about how much our country's activities in the field of health are recognized and appreciated in Europe. The coronavirus pandemic is still in full swing, all countries in the region are faced with numerous public health challenges, and we will have to work more and work harder, together with the WHO experts, to beat the virus," said Minister Lončar.
