Dr Zlatibor Lončar, Minister of Health in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, met today with the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for Europe Dr Hans Kluge, on the sidelines of the WHO Summit on Mental Health during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is being held in Athens on 22 and 23 July.

On that occasion, Minister Lončar and the WHO Regional Director Kluge discussed the current epidemiological situation in our country and the region, as well as further activities regarding the vaccination programme. The issues of compulsory vaccination were particularly highlighted, as well as previous experiences and studies on the necessity of administering the third dose of the vaccine. WHO Regional Director Hans Kluge reaffirmed once again his great support to Minister Lončar in the implementation of activities aimed at controlling the coronavirus epidemic, as well as further improvement of the healthcare system of our country.
Minister of Health of the Republic of Serbia, Dr Zlatibor Lončar, had a notable address at the ministerial part of the Summit, in which he presented the achievements and plans of the Republic of Serbia to protect the mental health of the population during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The WHO Summit on Mental Health entitled "Summit on Addressing Mental Health Conditions, Promoting Mental Well-being and Strengthening Resilience amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic, which is being held in Athens on 22 and 23 July, with the participation of top officials European officials, was opened by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Greece.
Health Ministers will adopt the Athens Declaration on Mental Health, expressing their commitment to having mental health promotion and support at the heart of the recovery agenda after COVID-19 in order to prevent the development of chronic mental health problems.
