Dr Zlatibor Lončar, Minister of Health in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, attended the opening of World Health Organization’s 78th Assembly, which started yesterday in Geneva.
In addition to numerous meetings on the sidelines of this most important global health conference, Minister Lončar also met with Dr Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe.
On this occasion, the two interlocutors confirmed the exceptional relations between Serbia and the WHO and the cooperation that has been established in recent years. They also discussed challenges facing WHO under the new circumstances and how to increase efficiency in the implementation of projects already underway. Dr Kluge, nonetheless, announced new regional projects in which Serbia would play an important role.
The discussion focused particularly on advancing innovation in addressing mental health challenges, but also on amendments to the Law on Smoking in Serbia.
Minister Lončar thanked for the congratulations on Serbia's appointment to the WHO Executive Board, highlighting that Serbia will be committed to strengthening and improving the efficiency of the entire WHO organisation.
